What is CBT?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a talking therapy, but actually it involves just as much 'doing'. It is a change based therapy and the more you can put into it, the more you will get out.
The theory and research behind CBT shows that our thoughts, feelings and behaviours are all interconnected, interdependent, and all impact each other....this means that whilst we can't change the way that we feel in isolation, if we can work on making changes to what we do, and the way we think about things, then this can have a significant knock on effect on our mood.
It's all about ways to improve our mental health through spending more time on behaviours that benefit us, and that help to rewire our brain in a positive way.
Our brains have an amazing capacity for change, this is called 'neuroplasticity'.
Every repeated thought, emotion, or action strengthens a corresponding neural pathway in the brain. Positive experiences, learning new skills, and healthy habits create beneficial changes, enhancing cognitive function and resilience.
We really can change the way that our brains work for the better!
